Uses & Benefits of organic gardening pepper spray
- Garden pepper spray deters many pests naturally. Smaller pests include aphids, caterpillars, cabbageworms, hornworms, flea beetles and other chewing or sucking pests. Larger pests include rodents and dogs.
Ingredients & utensils for making organic gardening garden pepper spray
- 2 cups water
- 3 tbsp finely ground hot pepper
- 3 tsp dishwashing liquid OR oil
- A Strainer
- A Storage bottle
- A Spray bottle
Instructions for making organic gardening pepper spray
- Mix water and pepper and allow to steep overnight
- Strain and keep the liquid
- Add the dishwashing liquid
- Store for up to at least 3 months in a cool place
- Before use, apply some of the pepper spray onto a leaf of the target plant to observe tolerance
- Use garden pepper spray after heavy rain and or routinely
- Pour only what you need into the spray bottle and spray directly onto the foliage. If possible, target the underside of leaves (so that rain can not wash away the pepper spray too easily). You may even mix this garden pepper spray with garlic spray or combine the recipes.
- After use, rinse the spray bottle well to avoid damage to the spray mechanism
Other gardening sprays that I use in my tropical organic garden
- Garden garlic spray
- Epsom salt spray
